The Burren (Irish: Boireann, meaning "great rock", Boirinn, the dative form, is the modern form used by the Ordnance Survey) is a karst-landscape region or alvar in northwest County Clare, in Ireland. It is one of the largest karst landscapes in Europe. The region measures approximately 250 square kilometres and is enclosed roughly within the circle made by the villages Ballyvaughan, Kinvara, Tubber, Corofin, Kilfenora and Lisdoonvarna. It is bounded by the Atlantic and Galway Bay on the west and north, respectively.

Garron Point is a headland on the world famous Atrim Coast Road in eastern County Antrim, Northern Ireland.

Carrick-a-rede means 'rock in the road'. It is thought salmon fishermen have been erecting bridges to the island for over 350 years. It has taken many forms over the years. In the 1970s it featured only a single handrail and large gaps between the slats. A version of the bridge, tested up to ten tonnes, was built with the help of local climbers and abseilers in 2000. A subsequent design was engineered in 2004 and offers visitors and fishermen alike a much safer passage to the island. The current wire rope and Douglas fir bridge was made by Heyn Construction in Belfast and erected early in 2008 at a cost of over £16,000.^[2] Although no one has fallen off the bridge, there have been many instances where visitors, unable to face the walk back across the bridge, have had to be taken off the island by boat.^[citation

This is a painting I have never shown and had actually fogotten about.

Ardnamurchan (Scottish Gaelic: Àird nam Murchan: headland of the great seas) is a 50 square miles (130 km²) peninsula in Lochaber, Highland, Scotland, noted for being very unspoilt and undisturbed. Its remoteness is accentuated by the main access route being a single track road for much of its length.

Here is my latest oil painting of Waverley Station in Edinburgh showing the south view of the station, I love the way the railway lines crisscross scoring the ground and the city looming behind. I attended art school for a year in Edinburgh and have fond memories of the city. As our capital and a visually interesting centre, Edinburgh will no doubt feature a few times again in my work this year.

This is the finished painting of the work in progress below. Sorry not a particularly good photo. The painting has suggested a detail perhaps of the National Gallery itself. Meanwhile, I am working on another Edinburgh scene, this time of Waverley Station. The subject has lots of scope for at least two or three paintings.

This is a painting I'm working on at the moment. I think the buildings (the Royal Academy Gallery and National Gallery, Edinburgh) will end up much lighter in colour. The foreground needs a little work but I want to keep it loose. My problem area is the top left. There are some buildings there but I'm not sure whether to include them. Perhaps a little indication and again only an indication of shape to the castle at the top.
